Hi there! My name is Stacie Giese. I am a recent graduate from Adams State University with a Master of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I graduated in 2006 from Iowa State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Ecology. I am a Registered Professional Counseling Associate with the state of Oregon (OBLPCT #R8408) and National Certified Counselor (NBCC #1726923) with supervision provided by Lorinda Sanders, LCSW.
Among my many life experiences, I have navigated the challenges of chronic pain, limited resources, and single parenthood as a queer, neurodivergent, gender expansive human. I bring a trauma-informed, supportive, non-judgmental presence to the counseling relationship in an effort to help guide others toward healing and connection while navigating the challenges of their daily life.
I spent some time working in the fields of animal care, customer service, and management before finding my calling as a counselor. I have worked with both adults and adolescents in a variety of settings. If your concerns involve gender, sexuality, parenting as a queer person, parenting a queer child, career issues, deepening relationships with others, or reconnecting with yourself authentically, I am honored to help guide your journey.
I offer a collaborative, client-centered approach incorporating elements of Internal Family Systems, Polyvagal Theory, neuroscience, mindfulness techniques, and creativity to find a framework for therapy which works for each client. We will work together to find meaningful goals for you, and then work together to achieve them. I am currently seeing clients virtually or in person in the Beaverton and Tigard/SW Portland, OR areas.
For whatever reason, we all feel like the Black Sheep sometimes, myself included. Underneath the weight of all of the expectations placed on us, however, we are all unique in our own beautiful ways. I created Unique Sheep Therapy to help guide others to find their own inner Unique Sheep and the power held within.
